Movin' on to St. Paddy's Day

I don’t have a quilt for St. Patrick’s Day, do you?  I would love to have one, I better add that to my list of quilts to design!  In the meantime I do have a Starbucks Cup with the ability to change the liner.  So here is my St. Paddy’s Day Cup…Starbucks Cup

I don’t want to pass by Valentines Day without a thank you.  My wonderful, talented and handsome husband brought me flowers, chocolate and a card the day before Valentines because he would be out of town on the special day!  I sure do love him bunches!

He is very talented.  He designed, cut and stained this helmet rack to hand in his Music/Harley room.  He did a beautiful job!

Now there is a safe place for our helmets.DSC06816Next on his list of showing off his amazing talents is to figure out what is wrong with my baby (the car) and fix her up!  She came home on a flatbed last night.  I do believe this was her first tow home, so sad!  Let’s pray she doesn’t need a new engine.DSC06919Now on to the next project.  Here is a sneak peek!  Batiks, can you imagine!  Ha, ha.

The Ladies Tea & a Big Surprise for Me!

This is the quilt I have been trying to finish.  Well, today was the day.  I finished the sleeve this morning and was selling chances for this quit by early afternoon.  We will not pull a winning ticket for this quilt until a special fund raiser dinner April 5th.DSC06897The Ladies Tea is great fun and a fabulous fund raiser.  Each table is set by the table hostess and a waiter is assigned to each table.  This is Jerry, he was the waiter for Table 9 (the Table I was seated).

We have tea and scones and finger sandwiches as well as dessert.  This was the 14th Annual Ladies Tea to support the Antelope Valley Pregnancy Counseling Center.  I am Catholic and Pro-life and this is a very important topic for me.   There are door prizes and a live auction.  For the last few years (about 10, I think) I have made a quilt and sold chances for it and given all the proceeds to this cause.  Sometimes the winner of the quilt will donate it back and then it goes up for auction (this is usually very exciting and brings me to tears).    At the Tea this morning I was surprised to see one of my previous quilts up on the stage.  The lady that had previously won this quilt was donating it for an auction item at todays tea!  Here it is…

DSC06895Well the bidding started and there was a bidding war (gotta love that).  The quilt was finally auctioned of for, wait for it, wait for it… $1150.00!  Wow!  Did I shed a few tears?  Tears of joy! Of course I did (I’m just a big mushball anyway).  Here is Jerry & the winner of the quilt!  She was sooo happy and made me a proud quilter.DSC06891My husband, Scott, was a waiter today too.  I did not get a picture of him (darn it).  But he went to the hall early and set up the quilt for today and took pictures of the beautiful tables.  What a guy!  So now I can share these beautiful tables right here in my blog.  Enjoy…

Well, I must get back to quilting, on to the next project or three!

A Long Day

Scott and I traveled today.  We went to a funeral for the Mom of his friend Bob.  Bob and Jen are the sweetest couple.  Many years ago Jen asked about a quilt for their house.  I gave her this one.  I think she has had it on display ever since.  It made my heart sing today to see it in her dining room.  IMG_1508It was a long day.  It rained, hailed and even snowed on us today.  We traveled the crazy road home during Friday night traffic.  I am such a wimp about traffic.  I thought I would accomplish a great amount upon arriving home, but no!  I am one tired chick!  So I will show you some of what I was working on prior to today.  This is once again a secret project…

DSC06855I do need to put the rest of the binding on the star quilt and tack down the sleeve.  I will show it for the first time at a Ladies Tea tomorrow and sell tickets for chances.  I will try to remember to take some pictures at the Tea and share them.

There was a box of fabric for me when I arrived home.  This beautiful stack is called Amethyst and is from Exclusively Quilters.  I will cut and stitch and assemble it into a quilt.  This one I can share as the process occurs.DSC06856There was also some white fabric in the box to go with the batiks you may notice from an earlier picture.  These need to become a nice large quilt too!

DSC06857Just in case you thought I was slacking or getting bored (which I do not do, Mom always said she could find a job for me if I was bored so I don’t let that happen) I am part of a group at Bolts in the Bathtub that is planning to start a group to make 2 blocks a month from The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt.  I think I will be picking the first 2 blocks, and I have.  I can’t share which ones I pick until late March, but this should be fun!DSC06858

Ok, gotta go get that binding finished up!

Catching Up?

I am not sure if I am catching up or getting further behind.  February is already a crazy month, and it just started.  This picture pretty much explains my life…DSC068501There are a few other things happening, like ripping out beautiful dense quilting.  I have this really big quilt (108” x 108”), sent it off to Vickie for quilting.  She was 3 rows in when she discovered I had a section sewn in WRONG!  All the quilting needed to come out and then I have to rip out the incorrect area and get it back together and back to Vickie.  I need to get this one to Seattle mid February.  YIKES!  I have ripped, Vickie’s daughter Allison ripped, my friend Sheryl ripped and I’m back at it again.  Ripping is awful!  Creating is way more fun!  At least we have a brand new big TV as of yesterday, now I can watch TV (not usually me) and Rip, Rip, Rip!DSC06849I do need to squeeze in some time to machine quilt and bind the Star Quilt.  There is a Ladies Tea February 9th and I need to be there with this quilt to sell tickets (by the way, I cannot find the tickets, might have to get them printed by Saturday as well).DSC06848

Just a commercial break….

This is Ollie, and he was fast asleep just like this.  Crazy Cat!DSC06847

Now for some sneak peeks…

This fabric is almost a quilt top, it is not ready for sharing just yet.  No worries, I will share when I can.DSC06851DSC06852This stack needs to be a quilt soon.  One again, I will share when I can. This is a basket block.  I will be appliqueing it when the ripping is done.  It is another secret.  I have so many things I cannot share just yet, but when the time is right you will see them all.DSC06854

I have been needing to blog, but with so many things under wraps it is hard to give any eye candy.  Catching Up?  I don’t know, I sure am busy creating!  My house looks like it too (no picture of the house, that would just be wrong).

Well, I hope you are busy creating too, and for now…
