Mix It Up Block 2 - Inbound Flight

Hi!

How did you do last week?
Did you get your homework done?

It is time for a new assignment, this one is Block 2 - Inbound Flight.

I think this is on point (ha ha) for me.
You see I live not to far from Edwards Air Force Base where they do flight testing.

There are many days when Inbound Flight is what is happening overhead.

Many, many years ago I worked at the Base for Northrop - B2 Bomber Division.

That was a lifetime ago!

Well,
let's get down to business.

As always I cut up the beautiful ombre fabrics into the pieces just as Nancy has told me to do.

I started to do the assembly of units

Put some of those units together...

Before you know it, there is a wonderful block (or 2).

I sure hope you are enjoying following along and seeing the
great blocks being made by all the designers.

Well,
I will blog at you again next week,
Tiffany

Mix It Up Fabric Choices and Block 1 - Outbound

Time to get Started!

This is my version of Block 1 - Outbound!

Before we get to far along,
I want to talk about my fabric choices.

I went with the beautiful Confetti Ombre Metallics by V and Co. for Moda.
I mixed them up (like the way I stuck in the MIX, ha ha)
with the Grunge Hits the Spot - New Eggshell and
Grunge by Moda in both Expresso and Lead.

Here is my list of fabrics:
Honey (10807-219) - 3/4 yard
Lagoon (10807-207) - 3/4 yard
Lime Green (10807-18) - 3/4 yard
Persimmon (10807-216) - 3/4 yard
Plum (10807-208) - 3/4 yard
Grunge Hits The Spot New Eggshell (30149 35) - 3 yards
Grunge Expresso (30150-310) - 3/4 yard
Grunge Lead (30150-309) - 3/4 yard

My Block 1 is made with Persimmon, New Eggshell, Expresso & Lead.

Using the pattern book, follow along with page N3.
First I list Nancy's fabric, then my fabric.

Teal Add It Up - Persimmon
Lime Counting - Lead
Black Spiro - Expresso
White Formulas - New Eggshell

I just cut the pieces I needed from the Persimmon Ombre
and decided how I wanted the shades to work when
I arranged the parts of my blocks.

I made the units and assembled the block
according to Nancy's fabulous directions.

Tah Dah!
The beautiful Outbound block is achieved.
Make sure you do this block twice.

Scott, my personal machine quilter,
digitized the block design and quilted for me!

Here is a look at the machine quilting:

Pretty cool, huh?

Now make the rounds:

Okay, get to work!
Make your two blocks and be sure to share them on Social Media.
Facebook and/or Instagram.

I will be on the lookout!

Blog at you later,
Tiffany

Designer Duo Quilt Along 2019 - Mix it Up

Are you ready?
Well, hold on a bit.
We are just about to get this party started.

This week is really just about introductions and sharing
our own Mix It Up versions of the quilt.

I am Tiffany and my quilt is created using the
lovely Ombré Confetti Metallic
fabrics by the amazing V and Co.

I seem to be having a thing for ombré fabrics right now!
I love the variation of movement provided by the
different shades from the same piece of fabric.

Each designer has created special blocks
for their version of the quilt.
My 12" blocks are designed using my
Mini Goddess Tool.

When we get closer to sharing about those
blocks and the Mini Goddess Tool will be available.
I will let you know as soon as it is ready
for sale on my website.

Just in case you are wondering,
here are my Mix It Up blocks:

I will also be providing a paper piecing option
for my blocks as well.

My quilt has one border that matches
the background fabric.
I love it.

My husband, Scott, quilted this beauty.
More about Scott in later blog posts.

Make sure you join the Facebook Group:

I have had the honor of being named a Guest Designer
by my friends Nancy Rink and Sarah Maxwell.
The other Guest Designers are
Elisabeth Hardy of Elisabewquilts,
Giuseppe Ribaudo, aka Giucy Giuce,
Karen O'Conner of Lady K Quilts
and Dolores Smith of Timeworn Toolbox.

Make sure you check out their blogs and
Instagram posts too!

Until next week...
