A Visit to The Quilt House

DSC06102We are in South Lake Tahoe for the week.  I drove the car up and Scott rode the Harley.  Now that we have been here for a few days, we went out for a ride.  Where do we go?  Quilt stores and Harley shops!  So now to share one of the stores we visited…

The Quilt House!

DSC06108

I just loved this store from the moment I entered in the front door!  Check out the picket fence on the wall where they display some of the quilts.  How cute is that?  There are many fun areas in this store.DSC06105

A church pew to share fabric is a great idea!DSC06104

And a sled in the picture above.  This sled belonged to the elders of the family for a few generations (I don’t remember all the details).  They brought it back from Minnesota.  It is awesome!DSC06106There are antiques for sale in the store too.  I was drawn to this black piece.  No way to get it back on the Harley, ha ha.

One last look at the store before we left.  The ladies at The Quilt House were wonderful to chat with.  They will have a booth at the Long Beach show in Southern California.  I wasn’t sure I would be attending, but I may just have to go to stop by and say “hi”.DSC06109

We also visited Carson City Harley Davidson…DSC06091

I have much more to share, but just a bit at a time, so..

On an adventure!
We arrived in South Lake Tahoe last night.

This is the view out the front door of our condo!

Another view...

And one more picture...

We are staying at the Worldmark Resort
for an entire week!
You know what happens when we go on vacation...

Well today the high is to be 70 degrees.
Sounds absolutely wonderful,
but,
there is a high wind advisory!

We came with the car and the motorcycle,
so today will be a car kind of day.

Well,

stay tuned and I will...

A Wonderful Time of the Year!

It is a wonderful time
if you are a quilter in Southern California.
At least according to me!
If you visit Lancaster, California
during this time of the summer.
We are part of Area 1
and we are handing out FREE patterns!
The quilt above is one of them.
The quilt below is another.
They are made of blocks that will also be used
in a Mystery Quilt.
If you visit the stores (7 of them)
in Area 1,
you can collect patterns
for a total of 9 quilts!

Are you excited?
We are!!!

Here is another quick picture
of just one wall in the class room.
There is so much more to see.
Come visit us!

Let Freedom Ring

What is it?

DSC05996

A quilt of course, but what does it look like?  A patriotic quilt!  This quilt will be making its debut for the Southern California Quilt Run.  It will be on display at Bolts in the Bathtub.  The panels and kits are available in the store or by phone order at this time.

DSC05991

This is one of my newest patterns.  The patterns is available on my website:  NeedleinaHayesStack.blogspot.biz.

The picture above is the quilt at the stage of needing binding.  My binding buddy, Dawna (from Stitches from the Tub) takes care of most of my bindings!  Gotta love that in a buddy!

The picture below is the EQ7 generated version of this quilt.

Freedom's Star

I knew I liked this quilt, but it wasn’t until it came back from the quilter, Vickie Wall, that I fell in love with this one!

DSC05992

The quilting is great!

DSC05993

She not only does a fabulous job of quilting, but the density of quilting is perfect and the designs she picks to quilt with are always just the right pattern.

DSC05994

The fabric line is Freedoms Star from Henry Glass.  The panel has the flag which I placed in the center.  there are other designs on the panel, those are in the center of the unusual log cabins and the centers of the stars.

The piecing was done by Karen Heins!  She is a wonderful quilt maker.  She has only been quilting a couple of years, but her attention to detail is great.  DSC05995

Just a couple more photos to give you more eye candy.DSC05997

My photography is not my strongest point.  I am trying to get better.  Always striving for improvement!  Not just in the photos, but in my designing and all other aspects of life as well.

So much to do, so little time…

A Visit to Quilters Cocoon

DSC05990

I am visiting my Mom in Perris for a couple of days.  My Mom needed to have cataract surgery and I volunteered to drive.

She went in yesterday morning and did great.  We went to lunch and off to visit a quilt store.  I have been to this quilt store a couple of times in past years.  Today was an surprise to me though.  They have moved to a new bigger brighter location.  It was a lovely, inspiring store to wander about in.

The front window was lined with gated pieces.  I love the look they gave the shop from the outside peering in.

Once inside there are many treasures to behold!

Of course there was a great variety of fabric,

fabric,

and more beautiful fabric…

There were creative displays

and many panels to choose from…

I mean many panels…

I have never seen panels displayed and packaged this way, but I think it is a good idea.  Easy to see what was available.  They were hung on the wall and on a nice rack.

DSC05983

Needless to say, I was inspired.  I have been so busy getting ready for the Southern California Quilt Run that I haven’t had time to even think about being creative.  I have been busy trying to finish up loose ends.  During the quilt run many of the projects I have been working on will be available at Bolts in the Bathtub.

I know I get in trouble with a few people because my posting is inconsistent.  I keep saying I will try to be better.  I do try, but I just don’t know where the time goes.  There is always so much to do I just run out of awake time.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I bet a few of you do!

Ok, that’s enough for now,
