A Quick Run Through the AVQA Quilt Show

DSC05956

I really did go through the show rather quickly (I didn’t actually run).

DSC05957

I did managed to snap a few pictures of quilts that caught my eye.

So I might as well share them.

The reason I went through so quick was because I was filling in for my friend Janis who was working the Bolts in the Bathtub booth.DSC05958

If you have read any of my past posts.  Scott and I always find the quilt stores and Harley shops when we travel, so when I saw a Harley quilt you know what I had to do…

I had to take a picture, of course!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little show and share.

Cure a Child

This is a close up of a small quilt I did for my friend Terri. Terri created the quilt, I only gave it a bit of quilting.  I think it will be either a raffle or auction item.

She asked my to donate my quilting for a special event.

This charity helps families in the Antelope Valley (where we live, of course).  Here is what they are about:

Our Mission is to provide support to families in the Antelope Valley struggling with the effects of childhood illness and to contribute to pediatric hospitals and charities that Make a Difference in the community.

So, having a child who is a cancer survivor, there was no question as to whether I would help.

Here is the flyer for the event that will happen tomorrow.  If you live in the Antelope Valley, come on over and support the cause!

Hopefully I will see you there,

until then,

A Couple Pieces Shy of a Full Table Runner

When I was at work yesterday,
I designed a new quick table runner.
Most of the piecing is with 2 1/2" strips
That usually makes it simple,
unless, of course,
a certain person (me)
makes a simple math error!
That's what I get for doing the math in my head.
I usually check all my math with a calculator,
not cuz I can't do the math,
simply because I make silly errors.

Anyway, this is what it will look like
when I get to work and cut one more 2 1/2" strip
and sew in the last few pieces.

Ok, gotta go get myself together and head to the best quilt store in my life!!!

Once Upon a Time

Here is a pic of my stack of blocks.

What will they become?
Well, hold on a bit and I will show.

First off,
check out the fabrics.
This is the focus fabric.
The fabric line is called:
Once Upon a Time,

I don't know why, but I love it!
It is really outside my box.

I was lucky enough to be at the store when
Dawna and Fay were looking at this line.
I loved it.
They got it (I think just for me) and said
that I would be creating something with it.
(no pressure!)

Well, the fabric came it.
I was happy to see it,
but the creative juices just weren't flowing.

I tried about half a dozen designs in the EQ7.
It just wasn't working for me.
This was my line (well, kinda)
I had to make something.
Maybe i was trying too hard.

I set it aside and went on to other things,
in the morning there was another idea.
I worked on it for a bit,
tweaked it some and came up with this...

Here is the shot jpeg EQ7.
I am in love with this quilt.
I have named it "MOD QUAD"

It is a bit Modern
and all the pieces are squares or rectangles,
hence the Quad.

The pattern is being written in 3 sizes:
Baby, Lap & Queen

It will be ready and available for the

Gotta go do chores
and work,

Cotton & Chocolate

I finally made it to Cotton & Chocolate!!
I am happy to share that they
are not only a Quilt Sampler store,
but their quilt is on the cover!

Here is the logo on their front door.

My plan today did not really include a quilt store,
but you might know by now
I will squeeze one in where-ever possible.
I really loved their coffee mugs!

After taking Aunt Evalyn to the Van Nuys FlyAway
so she could get back to Tennessee,
I went way out of my way to get to Thousand Oaks.

I let Dawna know where I was via text.
Her response was:
"Green with Envy"

Well, I decided to enjoy every second I had in their shop.
Lucky for you I had my camera ready.

What do you think?
Cute shop?
I think so!

I love this basket quilt.
Janice did it as well.
Hers was hanging in Bolts in the Bathtub for awhile.
I wish I would've taken that class with her.

There were wall to wall quilt samples.
I love that.
So much inspiration!

Ok,
It is late,
I was up early,
traveled,
worked,
went for a ride on the Harley,
and now I'm gonna rest!

Clovis, California

Quilters' Paradise is one of the stores on my list to visit.
I have been here many times and this store never disappoints me.
Here is the display right inside the front door:
There are many, many samples here.
I love that!!
The store is beautiful and pleasing,
the staff is very helpful.
I happened to be in Clovis for the Shop Hop.
I would've loved to do the Hop,
but we are here for a Family Reunion on Sunday.
We traveled as to Clovis on Saturday,
so this is the only store I will get to visit  :(
Just wanted to share a close up of same hand quilting,
you don't see that too often!
This is one block from the pattern I purchased.
I believe this will become part of the Applique Workshop
at Bolts in the Bathtub.
I can't wait to get started.
I even acquired some background fabrics.
Yummy fabrics that I don't usually have access to.
We are traveling together (Scott & I) so you know
we had to find a Harley Davidson Dealer too!
Here is the bike inside the door,
I thought it had great interest.
I little artwork.
We love stained glass,
so this piece was just a little bonus to view.
While we are here, we needed to visit the cemetery.
I took some pictures of the headstones of relatives
I plan to attach the pictures to Ancestry.com.
Anyway,
being rushed to finish and travel to Merced,
So,
