More from Road to California

I just have a couple quick shares tonight. First off a sighting of the Downton Abbey fabrics. They catch my eye everywhere.

This quilt caught my attention today...

I really seem to be drawn to quilts that have a New York Beauty theme to them.

I love the black and white check in there. I would never think to do that.

I sat through a lecture today on the art of bait king fabric. They use these things called chops. I really wish I owned a few authentic chops. Maybe someday.

I also took a class tonight on Celtic drawings. Here is my piece:

I visited my Mom, Aunt Rosie and Grandma Toni earlier this week. I need to share what my grandma has been up to. She used a pre-made quilt and added lace to it. She glued and sewed lace. Check this out!

Here is a close up. Isn't she amazing?

I have one more class early tomorrow. I will try to get pictures of my goodies from the show and share those later. For now, I need to get to sleep,

Road to California 2014

I know it's been forever since I have posted. I cannot undo the past, so let's just move on, shall we? I am at Road to California. I have only ever come for a one day visit to the show, but this year is different. I am staying in a hotel and taking classes. I took a class with Julie from Jaybird Quilts on Monday (loved it). I am a difficult student, I do not always want to follow the rules. I did the project for Julie's class but I did it a different shape and size. She gave me permission, but asked that I not share it yet. When I can, I will!

Yesterday I wandered the show. I did a quick preview (as I will be here for days). So here are a few things that caught my eye:

Wool? I have never played with wool. Apparently I find it at least a bit interesting. I have collected a few pieces over the years, maybe it will sneak into some project soon, who knows?

I think this was a sample in a booth, I might be back there today for a closer look.

Look at this quilting! I was amazed, so much so that I forgot to get a picture of the information about the maker. I will try to do that today as well. Until then, here is another view:

This one is lovely to my eyes.

Love the horses too.

I would like to visit the street in real life. Want to come with me?

I have two sessions to attend today, one lecture, one class. I will wander the show again and find new tidbits to share, so...

What else did I see in Houston?

Wow, I have been back how long? The days just keep flying by. I cannot believe I haven't finished sharing my Houston pictures. So here goes...

There was this great Cow Quilt exhibit!

Well, I thought these cows were just fabulous! Sorry it took so long to share them. I am sure you have seen them all over the web by now.

Beck to the quilt studio with me. It is getting reprinted very soon, so it is very lonely in there right now. I hope to have color in the room and fun stuff on the walls and shelves before long.

Gotta get busy,

Quilt Market 2013 - Day 1

What a great, long, wonderful, exhausting day. Let me start with a few of my favorite quilts from the quilt exhibit.

I think we should start with the Birds and the Bees. So here are the birds: Ricky & Lucy.

I tried to get a bit closer so you could see the quilting. Amazing!
I wanted to get the information for each quilt I share, so here is the sheet that went along with the birds.
Now for the bee!
And the bee close-up.

Oh, there are so many beauties. What shall I show next...

How about the Hoffman Challenge? I liked this one, of course there were many beautiful entries.
A view of the Hoffman dolls.
I seem to be having a thing for clocks, gears, keys, old door hinges and such, so I was drawn to this quilt.

How about another bird? The eyes are truly amazing!

This puppy was so alive.

I fell in love with this quilt. Pictures do not do it justice. Hand quilted, just wanted to point that out!

There will more quilts to share later, for now I want to share some more fun from my day. This is a really blurry picture, but the best one I have. This is the Costume Designer and the Production Designer from the Downton Abbey series.

This is my signed brochure. I will be framing this and it will hang in my studio.

This is the display in the Andover booth at Market for the Downton Abbey projects. I have a something in there.

What else can I tell you, oh, I was led to believe one of my quilts is wanted by a magazine (yippy). That is always a good feeling.

I got a Lizzy House Pearl Bracelets mini manicure. I love the Pearl Bracelets line.

My patterns are on display at the E.E.Scheck booth! Loving the pattern exposure.

I know my pictures are not the greatest, but it love to share them regardless. I hope you enjoy them as well.

Here is another display at Andover. How many od my projects can you find (this is kind of an eye spy game).

Are you as worn out as I am? I'm going to show you one more and then I need some rest. Going back at it tomorrow, should have much more to share.

Off to relax,
