More from Road to California

I just have a couple quick shares tonight. First off a sighting of the Downton Abbey fabrics. They catch my eye everywhere.

This quilt caught my attention today...

I really seem to be drawn to quilts that have a New York Beauty theme to them.

I love the black and white check in there. I would never think to do that.

I sat through a lecture today on the art of bait king fabric. They use these things called chops. I really wish I owned a few authentic chops. Maybe someday.

I also took a class tonight on Celtic drawings. Here is my piece:

I visited my Mom, Aunt Rosie and Grandma Toni earlier this week. I need to share what my grandma has been up to. She used a pre-made quilt and added lace to it. She glued and sewed lace. Check this out!

Here is a close up. Isn't she amazing?

I have one more class early tomorrow. I will try to get pictures of my goodies from the show and share those later. For now, I need to get to sleep,

Blog at you later,

Road to California 2014

I know it's been forever since I have posted. I cannot undo the past, so let's just move on, shall we? I am at Road to California. I have only ever come for a one day visit to the show, but this year is different. I am staying in a hotel and taking classes. I took a class with Julie from Jaybird Quilts on Monday (loved it). I am a difficult student, I do not always want to follow the rules. I did the project for Julie's class but I did it a different shape and size. She gave me permission, but asked that I not share it yet. When I can, I will!

Yesterday I wandered the show. I did a quick preview (as I will be here for days). So here are a few things that caught my eye:

Wool? I have never played with wool. Apparently I find it at least a bit interesting. I have collected a few pieces over the years, maybe it will sneak into some project soon, who knows?

I think this was a sample in a booth, I might be back there today for a closer look.

Look at this quilting! I was amazed, so much so that I forgot to get a picture of the information about the maker. I will try to do that today as well. Until then, here is another view:

This one is lovely to my eyes.

Love the horses too.

I would like to visit the street in real life. Want to come with me?

I have two sessions to attend today, one lecture, one class. I will wander the show again and find new tidbits to share, so...

Blog at you later,
