Patriotism & Poppies

Finally!
Today is my day.

We are nearing the very end of
The Road Home Row Along.

I hope you have enjoyed travelin
 the world and collecting Rows.
A special thank you to
Marian @ Seams to be Sew and
Every one stand up and give them
a great big round of applause!

I am in the Mojave Desert,
more specifically the Antelope Valley.
I suppose you are expecting an antelope.
Well, rumor has it they used to exist here.
Although I have never seen an antelope in this valley.

I have seen poppies!
Lots and lots of poppies!

Maybe we should have been called
Poppy Valley.
We do have the Poppy Reserve
about 15 miles from our home.

Those are my beautiful girls
(a few years back).

We also have Edwards Air Force Base
and Plant 42.
Many aircraft have been built in our valley
(even the Space Shuttle).
Frequently there are fabulous planes in our sky.

It just so happens
that many years ago I worked for
Northrop Grumman, B2 Bomber Division.

That plane has a soft spot in my heart.
That is why I chose to share it on my Row.

So, let's get to the Row.

Here is Patriotism & Poppies.
I love hand applique.
So that is the technique I used,
but you may use for favorite technique
to complete this Row.
 Patriotism & Poppies

What a great row! I love anything the least patriotic, and this is so much more. Thanks for sharing your talent, and that photo of your girls. It's definitely a beautiful memory.

I live in the Sonoran Desert in the winter but my summer home in ND has poppies...lots of red ones. It all started two years ago with one plant, then it made 6 plants last year and this year a whole garden 4 feet wide by 50 feet long came up in red poppies. I loved it! Next year my husband is thinking he won't have to mow the lawn.

Wow - really cool row - interesting story too!!

I have driven through the Mojave Desert a couple of times going to see my brother in CA and on the return trip. I never did see all the poppies, so I suspect I was either in the wrong area or there at the wrong time to see them. I think it would be fabulous to be there when they are in bloom.

What an awesome row! I'd love to see a field of flowers like that. Beautiful! I love planes! My Dad was a pilot and instructor in the USAF and I worked for the airlines. My son is currently serving in the USMC so patriotism is also important to us. Thanks for sharing your row, great job!

Thanks for a chance to win.

The first thing I like to do is view the row before I read the story. When I saw your row, I immediately knew it was the jet. You did a great job!

I love it! i'm adding it to my Patriotic row quilt (i collected Patriotic rows during Row by Row Experience this year). i have lots of relatives in the military, and my dad was in the Air Force. My brother was born on base in Colorado Springs, and enlisted into the Air Force himself--he's now stationed at Hill Air Force Base here in Utah. i hope to make a Patriotic AF quilt for him!

As a native Californian, who finds herself living in the wet wilds of Oregon, I can't resist a quilt with poppies on it. Thank you so much for creating this! One of my earliest childhood memories is of poppies hanging overhead and falling to the ground. It seemed magical then.

My sister too worked on the B2 so when I see it I think of her. I'm going to make your row because I love it's theme and applique as well.

I'm sorry I didn't get back here until today. I was sure I came by last Thursday, but with everything going on, it's possible I just didn't get back here. Either or, I'm so happy you participated in the Road Home Row Along with us. It is a sheer pleasure that your row is so wonderful and patriotic... I will definitely be making this row in the near future. I hope you had as much fun as we all did.
