Fun Monday!

I had a great day trip with my friend Dawna today!

This is her wonderful, fun little car.

 

We traveled around Southern California today,

the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

We had the top down all day!

 We went to the greatest needlepoint shop ever!

This is a fabulous shop.

I picked up some fun items for embellishing quilts.

Beads and specialty threads and such.

 

Dawna picked up a needlepoint that she had them

make into a wonderful pillow.

Check out the great Valentine projects in the display.

I have decided there is not enough time for me

to do all the things I want to do in life.

I truly loved their Valentine and Halloween items.

There were just sooo many lovelies to look at.

We had a wonderful lunch with Dawna's friend Karen.

It was delicious and delightful.

What a great day.

Dawna and I also saw this unique car

and had to turn around just to get a picture to share.

Crazy, huh?

 

Anyway,

I hope you had a wonderful, sun shiny day as well.

Grandpa Bud's Quilt

So, last time I told you a bit about Grandpa Bud.

He was my husband's step dad.

He was grandpa to our children.

He came to many school, athletic and family events.

He was our beloved Grandpa Bud.

I had been coerced by my friend Dawna

at our first JAM (just another Monday) session

to get busy with Grandpa Bud's quilt.

I had begun collecting train fabric

and started this quilt a few years back.

Now it was time to get it done.

Grandpa loved trains, the old steam engine type.

I researched some train heralds and got busy.

So this is how I made the train heralds,

also known as logos.

I traced to logo onto freezer paper.

I cut out areas with an exacto knife.

I pressed the freezer paper to fabric.

Next I stippled paint mixed with textile medium over the freezer paper,

waited for the paint to dry,

then I pressed it with the iron to heat set.

When I removed the freezer paper...

Ta da!!

This is the quilt top in progress

Here is the top with the border.

I finished the quilt on Friday night, January 7th.

Shared the quilt with Grandpa on Saturday morning.

We covered him with it and he passed on Sunday night.

Time for NEW!

Happy New Year

I know, I know, I'm a bit late.

Well, it's still January, at least.

I have had a rough beginning to this year.

We lost Grandpa Bud to his cancer battle,

we all miss him.

Things have just been crazy,

Life seems to be getting back to normal.

Except, I just sat down to share pictures

in my newly updated Blog and....

I cannot find my camera.

I think I must have left it at work.

I will go by there tomorrow and see if I can locate it.

Then...

I will have plenty to share.

In the meantime,

What's Undone?

I have many, many undone projects.

Today I joined a group who has named themselves:

Just Another Monday (JAM).

 We each made commitments
of what we will accomplish this month.

We will meet again on January 31st
to share what we have finished.

I think this is what I may need

to get some of the 37 undone projects finished.

Yes, I found 37 projects in various stages this morning.

Christmas on the Blvd

Scott and I went for a stroll on the Blvd. tonight.

We had dinner with Grandma and Grandpa

at the Brooklyn Deli.   Yummy!

We were walking along and realized that there was a reindeer to see.

So I snapped a picture of him.

There were carolers at the Western Hotel.

This woman was dressed up and singing in front of the

Lancaster Performing Arts Center.

She was up very tall and had puppets dancing in her dress.

I am not sure if you can see that in the picture,

but is was entertaining.

There was a lot more to see and do.

It was a great night on the Blvd.

Nimble Thimbles Holiday Party 2010

So, I was a little late with the camera this morning.

I missed getting a picture of Audra, 

but I think I got the rest of the group opening our gifts.

 Audra made this quilt for Margaret.

 Margaret made this table runner for Cindy.

This was a new technique for Margaret.

This runner is woven, crazy, huh?

 Margaret also made a needle book for each of us.

Yippy!!

 Cindy made this table runner for Peggy.

 I made this wall hanging for Nancy.

 Michelle made this art quilt for Karen.

 Karen made a wool art piece for Jacque.

 Jacque made this art wall hanging for Linda.

That is a picture of Linda's grandson in the middle of the quilt.

 Linda made this mostly batik quilt for Michelle.

 Maria made this quilt for Ilana.

There are Y-seams and applique in this beauty.

Ilana made this Serenity scene for Maria.

I have added a video of our wonderful morning as well.

Clever Carissa

Carissa (my daughter of 18 years) presented me with JOY today.

She made these blocks for me.

I love them.

Over the weekend I purchased this Santa at a boutique

that was part of a home tour and progressive lunch.

I will share more about that in another blog.

Santa was made on top a candle stick holder

and he sits nicely on the counter in my lavender bathroom.

Isn't he wonderful?

 I was out of town this past weekend.

I visited Little House of Quilts as well.

 It is a cute store.

Located in Sun City, Ca.

If you find yourself in Sun City,

may I suggest you visit this quilt shop.

I understand this store will be on the

Southern California Quilters Run

in May.

I have soooo much to work on right now.

Quilts to be quilted,

patterns to write,
