Design Board Monday

On my design board today I have the beginning of 2 new quilts. I have been designing for a fabric company called Exclusively Quilters. I love designing, I find the challenge good for my creative juices. I am not ready to show you what this one is going to be yet, but stay tuned. The first line to work on today is called: Tribute to Vincent.

The second quilt I need to work on soon is from the Froggies line.

Funday Fridays

This is the quilt we gave our highly valued opinions on last week.

Karen got the borders on and we all think it looks great. Good Job Karen!!

Nancy shared the blocks she has been working on. She has determined that she can get about 5 done a day. That means in 12 days of work she will have the blocks completed and be ready to move on to sashings. Keep up the good work, Nancy!

Sue was able to come to the meeting today. She has been working like a crazy woman at the hospital, as well as on her Halloween Blocks. Aren't they cute?

I have been working on mine as well, just not as speedily as Sue.

These are Peggy's blocks from Moda You that is being held at Bolts in the Bathtub. Peggy, rebel that she is, has decided to make all her filler blocks different that those in the pattern.

Here is the first one she has made using her own designs. Way to go Peggy! We love the rebellious ones.

Sue also shared this adorable Sun Bonnet Sue quilt with lots of handwork. It will be a gift for someone who will appreciate it!!!

Wondrous Wednesdays Extra

So, I work a split shift at the store on Wednesdays. So that means every so often there will be an extra post for the latest arrivals on Wednesdays. Well, here is the first:























Scribble Monsters!! The fabric has been out, but here is the quilt top. Isn't it fun?
This was put together by Carolyn and Peggy. I love it!













I also love this new line called "Eva". I think I may have to bring some of this one home myself.

Wondrous Wednesdays

I work at an awsome quilt store: Bolts in the Bathtub!! I just love it there. I only work one day a week, it seems much more like a quilters playground than work. Anyway, I thought I would share what is new each week in the store.

This week we have Robot fabric. It is the Cogsmo line by Andover. This is great! My daughter is on the Robotics team at Lancaster High School, Team 399!! I may just have to make her a bag to carry school stuff in.



This is adorable.



Next we have a new line in from Benartex. This one is called Nuance and it is by Paula Nadelstern. What great potential this line carries for those creative spirits.





This adorable bag is made from the Charm Party Tote pattern.
Michelle used leftovers from a quilt and cut them into 5" squares.
We loved this one at the store.

Fun Fridays

I meet with a wonderful group almost every Friday. I thought I would share what we are doin each week. I am sharing with you from last Friday, but hope to get on track and share everytime I go to meet with my Nimble Thimble group.






First to share was Karen. She made this stocking and doll quilt with a group of blocks from Moda. She added in some extra blocks. They sure are cute.

Peggy has been on an English Paper Piecing kick. This block she plans to use as a pocket on a bag. I is great, I love the bright colors.

Karen spread out this quilt top. She needed our advice on the border. Just so you know, as a group, the Nimble Thimbles are never short on opinions. So we tried to help her work it out.





Ok, I think we have helped. Stay tune to see how this one turn out. I think it will be really cool.

A year or so ago, we held an un-retreat. This meant we set up at Audra's house, worked all day, went to our own homes at night and came back the next morning to get right back at work. This was a great plan for our group. At this retreat we worked on quilt using one fabric. Peggy had a few around her house, so I went on a hunt a took some pictures to share.

These are wonderful. Check in next week to see what we come up with next.

A Quilt for the Hospital

I have been working on a quilt for the Antelope Valley Hospital Gala. My friend Dawna and I agreed to make a quilt for this event. Let's start with the announcement.

Next we downloaded the adorable logo. Anne Marie worked on digitizing and
Carolyn embroidering while I worked on a layout for the quilt.

When we worked it out, and got started, this is the pile of in progress parts we accumulated.

This is the finished top, now we just have to get it quilted an bound for the event on Saturday. Wish us luck!!

My Kids

Ok, I blamed my kids for having the camera, and well, I cannot tell a lie. It was in my bag the entire time. So, with that confession aside, I think I will introduce my kids. The oldest is Nick, he is 20 and the web master for the Needle in a Hayes Stack web site. Carissa is on the right. She is 17 and a senior in high school. In the middle we have Lindsay, she is 16 and a junior in high school.

Here I go!! I have decided to join the Blogging World. I want to have some recording of the crazy quilting life I quietly lead. To begin with, I want to share my most exciting quilting news. I have landed a spot in the Keepsake Quilting Catalog.

This is my Spice Market Quilt. It is most lovely and stricking in real life. I have found that most quilts are much more appealing when you can see them and touch them. We are a tactile group aren't we?

When I claim my camera back from one of my kids I will get some pictures up of my latest quilt in progress. It is a donation quilt, I think you will enjoy following my creating of it...
